I try out poppy cake recipe from book «Culinary secrets of sister Olga.» I give you the exact recipe, although for sample I did half portion. It turned out maybe not beautiful, but very tasty!

Preparation
Add to sifted flour diluted in sour cream yeast, milk, salt, whipped with sugar eggs and begin to knead dough. Finally add melted and cooled margarine. Well knead dough, put it for a night in a cold place.

Wash poppy, steam with boiling water, leave for 12 hours and then pass through a sieve, double-mill through a meat grinder with a strainer which has small holes. In saucepan melt butter, add poppy seeds and fry for 10-15 minutes (stirring all the time). At the end add sugar, honey, nuts, raisins, almonds (I did not add almonds — can not found). When mass has cooled, knead with whipped whites.

Divide dough and poppy stuffing into four parts. Each part of dough roll with roller to a thickness of about 0.5-1 cm. Spread on dough poppy filling evenly, leaving free 2 cm from the edge, and twist roll. Edges of dough should be sticked together. Put in form seam side down. Bake poppy cakes in long narrow shapes, covered with oiled paper over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, until lightly browned. Before baking grease top of poppy cake with egg.

You can add to poppy stuffing semolina or ground crumbs, which soak liquid from poppy. (This note is from the book. I did not dare and the filling was really watery).
