Preparation
Wash potatoes well, then boil. You can take old and young potatoes. After boiling potatoes, do not peel them, cut them like this:
Slice onion, spread in pan with heated oil (take more oil), fry a bit.
After frying onion, spread potatoes on top and fry further, sometimes stirring. Do not forget to salt dish during this process. When potatoes are almost ready, put on top sliced cheese (or grated)
Take more cheese, than on this photo.
After melting cheese, you can serve ready dish. With mayonnaise or without.
It is not necessary to eat peel from potatoes (if you wish), but it adds specific taste to dish.
